New Postage Prices Coming May 12, 2008

Does it seem to you that Postage rates are too high and going higher all the time? If so, consider these facts:

  • The USPS processes and delivers more than 212 billion pieces of mail per year. This equates to 700 million pieces per day, 29 million pieces per hour, 486,000 pieces per minute, and 8,000 pieces per second.
  • They deliver to more than 300 million people at 148 million addresses in the United States, Puerto Rico, Guam, the American Virgin Islands and American Samoa.

  • 1.8 million new delivery points are added annually.

  • The USPS is the second-largest employer in the United States with nearly 685,000 career employees, paying $2.1 billion in employee salaries and benefits every two weeks.

  • The USPS does not receive tax dollars for operations. They are a self-supporting agency, using revenue from the sale of postage and products to pay expenses.

You can help keep postage prices from continuing to rise by making sure your mail is addressed correctly and legibly. If you move, be sure to submit a Change of Address form, not only with the Post Office but with everyone with whom you correspond.

Another way you can help is by using our services! When the Post Office can process mail using their barcode readers, they don't use as much labor.

Call us for a quote on your next mailing - you might be surprised at how much time and money we can save you!

Beginning  May 12, 2008, a First Class stamp will cost 42 cents.
